Summary

Nine ingredients for treating bulimia nervosa

The treatment of patients suffering from bulimia nervosa can be quite a challenge. Somatic risks, a type of patient that needs to be in control, a body image and self-image which is difficult to influence, and comorbidity, are just a few examples that can drive therapists into desperation. This article aims to stimulate them (to keep on) use(ing) cognitive-behavioural therapy - the treatment of choice. This also includes behavioural experiments, which are often experienced as difficult to carry out. In this clinically focused paper, we will provide you with nine treatment ingredients that should be included in the evidence-based treatment of bulimia nervosa.
